Meet Our Donors
We thank all our planned-gift donors for their generous support. Here are some of their stories.
In Remembrance of Warren
Carol
Haberchak
In 1966, a friend introduced Carol Haberchak to her first love, Warren Francis Muhr during his training in Ft. Lewis, Washington. They began a long distance relationship, writing back and forth, and talking on the phone on the weekends. One of his first letters to her read, "Do you believe in love at first write?" His letters were sweet and sincere, with a wonderful sense of humor.
He regarded her as an angel in his life and an inspiration. They were in love.
On January 21, 1967, Warren turned 21. On Feb 26, 1967, machine gun fire killed Warren while he was protecting the front lines. She found out about his passing much too late to pay her respects. At that time, she felt helpless.
Three years ago, while trying to find Warren's resting place, Carol found VVMF's Virtual Wall. Ever since, she has donated her time and money to VVMF and the Education Center. Her passion is to get as many photos uploaded as she possibly can and to raise the awareness of this worthy cause by educating her friends and anyone who crosses her path.
Carol's time with Warren was short, yet he had the greatest influence on her life. Warren inspired her to do all she can to support and honor veterans. She believes so fervently in honoring Warren and Vietnam veterans that she has made VVMF a key beneficiary in her estate plans. By naming VVMF as a beneficiary of her retirement plan, she is making a future gift that will provide support to VVMF long after her lifetime and will help ensure the heroes on The Wall are Never Forgotten.
