In the Face of Fluctuating Returns on Investments, Charitable Gift Annuities can Ensure a Steady Stream of IncomeHelen, a longtime friend of St. Luke’s, can attest to the importance and significance of Charitable Gift Annuities. She wanted to provide a gift to the hospital, but she also needed the income from her savings. Helen decided that a Charitable Gift Annuity was the way to go. In the face of fluctuating and decreasing return on investments, the Charitable Gift Annuity offered her a steady stream of income with a higher rate of return than she would have realized from her personal savings, stocks and securities. In addition, it also provided her with a sizeable charitable deduction. Helen points out, “I get the satisfaction from knowing that as I am helping myself, I am also providing a generous gift to St. Luke’s Endowment Fund which I otherwise could not afford.” |

A Charitable Gift Annuity Serves as an Expression of Gratitude
These words reflect the personal sentiment Jane Rauch, a member of St. Luke’s 1872 Society. A long time resident of Bethlehem, she came to love the hospital where her husband spent his time caring for those who lived and worked in their community. Jane understood the charitable and personal benefits available through Charitable Gift Annuities. In addition to lifetime income and the qualifying charitable deduction she knew she would receive, it was important to her that she could give something back to support St. Luke’s vitally important mission of healing and care. |

Donors Continue Their Legacy Through A Bequest DesignationLeaving a legacy gives evidence that a person’s life mattered, had purpose and made a difference in the world, in one’s community and in the lives of people they love. Volunteering was very much a part of the life of Mary and Allen Stever. Giving time and resources to causes they valued, they made a tremendous difference in the community where they lived and worked. For many years, Mary was actively involved in the annual St. Luke’s Charity Ball, the premier fund-raising event for the hospital. Over the years, the Stevers received their care at St. Luke’s, developing trust and admiration for many of the physicians and nurses. When it came time to review their estate plans, the Stevers arranged for a legacy gift through their will that would ultimately benefit St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Their bequest designation reflects their generosity, genuine affection and respect for nursing education and our need for qualified and dedicated professional nurses. Mary continues to be a part of the St. Luke’s family through the 1872 Society and is proud of the legacy that she and her late husband are leaving behind. |
