Charles E (Chuck) Nelson, Chief Office for Gift Planning, has been employed at Menno Haven since April 2006. His history with Menno Haven in Various volunteer positions span over 30 years. Before accepting his present position, Chuck served on the Menno Haven Board of Directors for four years as the first non-Mennonite member. Prior to coming to Menno Haven, He spent 30 years in the backing and financial industry. In 1997, he was one of the founders and the first President/CEO of Sentry Trust Company. During his nine year tenure, the company exceeded $500 million in assets under management.
Chuck is a 1975 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. In 1981, He graduated from Central Atlantic School of Banking and in 1991 graduated from the Central Atlantic School of Trust. In 1986, he received his certified Financial Planning designation (CFP) and in 1994, completed his Masters of Science in Finacial planning through the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. In 2006, Chuck graduated from the National Institute of Planned Giving at the College of William and Mary.
In addition to his professional career, he has dedicated considerable time to the community. Over the past 30 years, Chuck has been directly involved in leadership roles in many fundraising campaigns for non-profits specializing in Endowment development and is the author of many articles as well as speaker on items relating to his field of expertise. He has served as President (Founder) of the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation, Chambersburg, and the Chambersburg YMCA board of Trustees, Chuck is also past chairman of the Quincy Home integrated Health System Board, Shook Retirement Home Board, Charter President and Founder of Greater Chambersburg Camber of Commerce Foundation, past-President of Chambersburg Areas School District Foundation Board of Directors, Charter President and Founder of the South Center Estate Planning Council and the Penn State Mont Alto Advisory Board of Directors. His awards include:
- 1987 recipient of the American Heart Association Distinguished Service Award
- 1988 honored as one of the “outstanding Young Men of America”
- 1996 recipient of the YMCA Honorable George C. Eppinger Development Award

Kenn Anne Kane began her employment with Menno haven in 1998 as a receptionist and supported the Gift Planning area part-time. In 1999, she was promoted to a full-time Gift Planning Assistant. During her tenure, she has provided a very personal touch to the Gift Planning area in how she interacts with residents and donors. Her 10 plus years in Gift Planning has afforded consistency within the department not only by performing the support functions, but also filling the Directors position during a period of time when that position was vacant.
Her experiences and involvement in many seminars and conferences has made her a valuable asset to Menno Haven’s Gift Planning area. Kenn Anne attends the Marion Mennonite Chuck.
