Barbara Scheelje

Barbara Scheelje’s history with Abington Hospital goes back more than half a century. In the 1950s she attended what was then Abington’s School of Medical Technology. That led to a job in Abington’s medical lab, where she continued to work until her retirement in 2000.

Barbara eventually rose to the position of Program Director of the School of Medical Technology, where her responsibilities included recruiting and interviewing for the program. Even after she retired, following decades of devoted service, she continued to serve the hospital as a volunteer and a member of the Women’s Board Evening Auxiliary.

Over the years Barbara has remained a faithful donor to the hospital and a loyal member of the Chairman’s Forum annual giving society. She has also guaranteed that her support will continue into the future by including Abington Health Foundation in her estate plans.

Barbara’s continuing devotion to Abington helps ensure the future health of the hospital, and her planned gift makes her a treasured member of Abington’s Elkins Legacy Society.
