Meet Our Donors

We thank all our planned-gift donors for their generous support. Here are some of their stories.

Helen Lehotzky

Helen Lehotzky, M.D. is a retired pediatrician who remains committed to Abington Health Foundation with her annual support. This year she took advantage of the Pension Protection Act of 2006, which allows direct distributions to Abington Health Foundation and other charities from an IRA, incurring absolutely no tax on the charitable distribution.

Joie Smith and Drew Scott

Joie Smith has a long history with Abington Health Foundation. Her father was a trustee and her mother, a member of the Women's Board, helped to compile the first ever June Fete Cookbook. Now a trustee herself, Joie makes her annual gift through appreciated stock, avoiding capital gains tax and supporting excellent healthcare in the community.

Rae Cohan

The late Ray and Bernard (Bud) Cohan, set up a charitable trust with their financial institution. The trust provides an income stream and at the end of its term the trust will be distributed among their favorite charities, including Abington Health Foundation. Rae loved meeting others who felt as strongly about Abington Health Foundation as she did!

Robbin Tatlock

While making her will, Robbin Tatlock's attorney asked her if she there were any charities she'd want to include a bequest to. Robbin didn't have to think very long when she decided to name Abington Health Foundation as one of her beneficiaries. Robbin feels her work for over 20 years, as a certified dental hygienist in the dental clinic has been very fulfilling. Her bequest is her way of expressing her pride and gratitude.

Alfred and Faith Rotelle

If you're including Abington Health Foundation in your estate plans, why not do it the way Alfred Rotelle has? Al has gotten some of the best advice available. An IRA left to anyone else is taxable up to 75%! Left to charity it's taxed at 0%. Consider leaving at least part of your IRA to charity. Leave the rest of your assets to your loved ones.

William and Shirley Dennis

Shirley Dennis is the first African-American Board member to join the Elkins Society. Shirley made a charitable gift annuity in 2003 that guarantees her an income for life and provides future support to AMHF. As a member of the Diversity Advisory Committee and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee Shirley is proud of the Diversity Initiative that AHF is committed to.
