Mrs. Florence Phoebe Walker
Mrs. Florence Phoebe Walker was born on May 1, 1917, in Estherville, Iowa, to Julian and Mae Archibald. She met M. Ellsworth Walker at Moody Bible Institute, and they were married on December 17, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. Three children were born of their marriage. Rev. and Mrs. Walker served many churches in New Jersey and Iowa. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and a past member of the Des Moines Women’s Club. She was employed with the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for 13 years, retiring in 1979. Mrs. Walker died on January 8, 2014, and left surviving her her three children, seven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Africa University recognizes the generosity of the late Mrs. Walker posthumously for leaving a bequest to the university in her last will and testament.
