Rev. Dr. William L. McFadden and Mrs. Martha P. McFadden

name

For The Rev. William “Bill” McFadden and Martha P. “Marty” McFadden of Sheffield Village, Ohio, 1 Corinthians 9:6-7 informs their philanthropic thinking: “Remember, a stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. . . . God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.” (The Message)

Bill and Marty are graduates of Ohio Wesleyan University. Bill earned his Master of Divinity degree from Drew University in 1961 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1979. During their 57 years of marriage, the couple reared two daughters and are now the proud grandparents of four grandchildren.

The McFaddens are retired. Marty retired in 2007 after 17 years with the Elyria United Methodist Village Development Office. Bill has “retired” from several careers. He served as a parish pastor for 27 years in the East Ohio Annual Conference. He was the development and marketing director for a retirement community for approximately seven years. In 1996, he became the executive director of the Peter and Eleanore Kleist Family Foundation, officially retiring in 2002.

Bill has been a member of the AU Advisory Development Committee since 1997 and has served as chairperson of the Planned Giving Council since 2001. He coordinated three successful U.S. tours of the Africa University choir and wrote the policy/procedures manual for choir tours that continues in current use.

The McFaddens were inducted into the Legacy Society in 2001 and are being recognized for their third planned gift to Africa University.
