Donor Stories
We thank all our planned-gift donors for their generous support. Here are some of their stories.
Ms. Karel Kidwell
"After my career as an accountant, I'm preparing for retirement in 5-10 years. When completing the paperwork for my retirement benefits, I learned that naming my favorite charity was an easy thing to do. Unlike creating a will, I did not have to go to an attorney to name Children's Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary of my retirement plan. I just listed the Foundation as a beneficiary on the forms for my pension plan. I'm assured of my benefits in my lifetime and pleased to know the balance will transfer to Children's National after that time."
Mrs. Terry Cornwell Rumsey & Mr. William Rumsey
“Right after our son Billy was born, he was treated at Children’s National Medical Center where the physicians saved his life. My husband William and I realized the importance of offering our personal time as volunteers and financial support to sustain the work being done at Children’s National. We decided the best way we could make a lasting difference was to include Children’s National in our wills. The decision was easy.”
Mr. Wayne Kleczek
"The idea of a legacy gift just arose as I set up my trust and other long-range plans. Since you can’t take it with you and because I don’t have any children of my own, I want the remainder of my estate to transfer through a bequest in my trust to Children’s National Medical Center where it will be put to good use after I no longer need it. I believe children deserve a chance, and they have to have good health to have a chance.”
Mrs. Cynthia Payne

“During my first marriage in the 1960s, I named Children’s National Medical Center in my will. Although I don’t have children, I was inspired by the treatment a friend’s daughter received there. I thought Childrens National was a worthwhile place to leave a legacy gift – ensuring children get the best medical care possible. Children’s National is one of the best, if not the best, in the country.
