Dear Friend:

Welcome to Kendal’s Guide to Creative Giving, offered to assist you to explore ways to plan for the future support of the not-for-profit organizations you believe in—and we hope Kendal at Home will be high on your list.

What worries the retired people you know? When you picture the older adults in your life who mean the most to you personally, what concerns do you know they face? For many, it is the prospect of managing to stay at home and functioning well if health fails or frailty sets in.

Kendal at Home was established to help older people by providing an answer to these worries. You can take an active role in helping to continue our mission to serve them in the manner you may have pictured.

Kendal at Home began as a not-for-profit organization through the generous support of a variety of organizations and a volunteer board of directors and has been serving older adults living in their own homes and neighborhoods throughout the greater Cleveland area since 2004. Our mission is to offer older people the opportunity to remain a part of their vibrant, diverse, caring communities while providing options to promote independence, continuous learning, social relationships and excellence in healthcare.

We hope you will find the inspiration and information you need in these pages to determine how to make a philanthropic impact with Kendal at Home. And so we bring this Guide to you. In these pages you can learn how you can support Kendal’s mission in ways that may surprise you. You will see how just one “creative gift” can return an immediate tax benefit to the donor, plus lifetime income for the donor and a loved one, in addition to providing long-term financial support to Kendal at Home. Financial advisors call these creative techniques “planned gifts,” because with thoughtful planning, you can turn personal giving challenges into win-win solutions for you and for Kendal.
